Anchored Addictions

I found it interesting the items stated on the website of 1800nodrugs.com about addiction. There are chemical and feeling addictions. With chemical addiction, a person just needs to pull through a cold turkey period to flush out the said chemicals. Yet, it’s not wise to go cold turkey just like that. Preparation, monitoring and various other precautions are to be taken to ensure that a person could go through it safely and with the highest chance of recovery.

The most surprising addiction is the addiction to a feeling. I’m so used to associating addiction to the chemical reason but sometimes, people are continuously repeating a harmful behavior just to get that feeling they crave. If so, rehalibitation becomes more complex because now a person needs to deal with the root causes and problems that’s making him or her crave for that feeling.

Also, addiction is an individualistic crown of thorns. Each person has different addiction characteristics hence the recovery plan must be designed specially to meet such needs. This then implies the importance of having a professional counselor that would take time to understand the said needs and make good decisions in tailoring the best rehabilitation plan.

What I gathered from it all is that fighting addiction is not a one man war. It’s really about having people who care about you and are willing to battle it out alongside. But I guess it’s natural for someone to just try to weed out the addiction by him or herself; afraid of being stigmatized by society.

It’s great then that the said non-profit website is acting like a hub that gathers all the resources a person need to counter their addictions. It provides counseling, addiction related referrals, information in helping a person understand what addiction is and a slew of other forms of help. All of the said referrals are for free and they even provide financial help to those in need. Check out the website here: drug rehab
