minor minor minor jazz fest update

A shot of Sheila Majid during her performance in Jazz Fest 2007. I didn’t really like her songs actually but there was this moment when she sang ‘Legenda’ and the whole atmosphere of the night changed. That very song somehow brought a majority of the crowd back to a certain pleasant past. It was quite magical really.

Yet, jazz somehow is like a foreign language. Without having some form of association may it be lyrics, a cantabile melody or an appreciation of what’s going on under the musical technical hood, a jazz piece can just sound so random and worst, a tad annoying after awhile with all the non resolution in the chords and phrases.

With that, the beauty of art actually needs to make sense to both soul and also the mind. For example the best spontaneous solos of any jazz piece can somehow be broken down note by note whether it be in an exclusive, relative, micro or macro analysis. The best forms of art sometimes have an underlying cohesiveness beneath all the tapestry of chaotic emotional expressed creations.
