Painting With Light

It's amazing how the looming of the exams can bring about much inspiration do to everything but study. Hence, bored of power electronics, I tried this photography technique called painting with light. All you need is a tripod and a torchlight.

Make sure you set your white balance according to your torchlight bulb.
Anyhow, all the lights are switched off and with everything pitch black, the torchlight is used to 'paint' over your subject. Note that the torchlight was never stationary on a spot at any time, it was swished all over the subject in a speedy manner.
A shutter speed of around 15 seconds were used with f22 at iso 400.

I like how it allows you to isolate your subject and have everything around it pitch black. My room wasn't the best place for isolation since it was such a confined place. But with a proper room and minimal clutter, I think I could use it for product photography and still life. Portraits too maybe, but for a person to stay still that long could be a problem.

You could make ghost effects of yourself too! =p
