This is not an advert; I just want to give a 5 out 5 star rating for this camera shop in Penang.

First, their replies to my e-mails were prompt and replied in a pleasant tone. Just by reading the replies, you get all nice and fuzzy inside; in short, they are courteous which I don’t find that a lot in Malaysia when dealing with shop attendants.

I hate shopping for camera equipment in KL/PJ. The prices are usually jacked up if you don’t know where to look and they treat you like they have had an hour of sleep only the night before. If you don’t buy anything, they give you that only slept for 5 minutes look instead. Then, some of them try to convince you that your purchase choice is lousy and push to you instead some other crappy alternative.

Oh, let’s not go to the area of warranty claims. When you do claim for a warranty, they treat it like you’re the evil one giving them trouble.

Anyhow, back to Shashinki.com, I ordered the lens at 4 in the evening and by 11 in the morning next day, a Pos Laju van was at the doorstep.

The lens was packaged very well with bubble wrap and even a few cushioning elements.

I had the problem of depositing an extra RM5 and asked them to give me something that costs RM5. So they gave this battery holder that costs RM5.50. Not bad right? Oh, postage was FOC too. The lens I purchased was RM 795 but after asking shops in midvalley, sungai wang and pj, all of them tried to sell it at RM 870 and I told them that I could get it cheaper, below RM800, but they’d just look at me like I’m some stupid fella. =S
