It's All in the Mind

It’s unnerving how addiction has ruined so many lives. Sometimes, it’s not the physical that addiction attacks and leaves a scar but most of the time it’s the sanctity of our mind. I had a buddy who was addicted to cocaine for 20 years and what he told was, that the most painful thing to him was his failure to defeat the addiction.

Day in and out he struggled to detach himself from his addiction but each failure brought about further guilt and lowered his self esteem. By the end of the 20 years, he’s love for himself was at a sea bottom low and unsurprisingly, he hated himself so much.

He did try drug rehabs and such but all of them didn’t really work because apparently the rehab centers focused more on countering addiction through physical means and not providing a safe haven for his mental aptitude. So his addictions of drugs were fought with other physical drugs. In short, it was hell.

But luckily there are rehabs in Malibu that understand how important it is the felicity of the mind in regards to the journey recovering from addiction. They know that to fully facilitate in recovery, an addict must have the right mindset and determination to get help and finally to overcome addiction completely.
